I have worked with a range of independent authors, offering proofreading and copy-editing services across five books in genres including fiction, historical non-fiction and autobiography. My goal throughout this work has been to help each author present their writing at its very best — clear, consistent and polished — while respecting their individual voice and intent. One author used my sample edit to rework their manuscript, while the other four commissioned full edits, three of whom chose to pay me after initially responding to my advert for free services because they were so pleased with the quality of my work.
My love of reading and language has been a lifelong constant, and it’s what drives my commitment to editing. I have always found comfort in books and have been fascinated by how words can be shaped to create meaning and emotion, and I find real satisfaction in refining a piece of writing so that it communicates as clearly and powerfully as possible.
